How to book, step by step

Eleven steps from the first date choice to a secured allocation and a finished programme.

  1. Select the performance date

    Choose a preferred date from the schedule. Not every date offers the same package options — some dates are 1-Night only, others 2-Night only.

  2. Select the accommodation zone

    Zone 1 is Oberammergau itself. Zone 2 covers the surrounding region and includes round-trip transport on performance day.

  3. Select the hotel category

    Category A is 5-star, available in Zone 2 only. Category B is 4-star or a 5-star guest house. Reservations are made by category, never by hotel name.

  4. Select the room category

    Double and twin rooms may have one large bed or two singles. Bedding cannot be guaranteed; for guaranteed single occupancy, book a Double Room for Single Use or a Suite for 1 Person.

  5. Select the ticket category

    Unique Germany offers TC1a (premium) and TC1 (excellent) only.

  6. Choose the package duration

    1-Night means the performance falls on the arrival day. 2-Night means it falls the day after. For 1-Night packages in Zone 2, plan arrival around midday.

  7. Submit the request

    Send us the dates (preferred plus two alternatives), zone, hotel category, room category, ticket category, package duration, passenger count and rooming list.

  8. We file the request

    Unique Germany submits the ticket and accommodation request to the official Passion Play Office. All allocations remain subject to availability.

  9. Confirmation and deposit invoice

    Once the Passion Play Office confirms, Unique Germany issues a booking confirmation and a deposit invoice for 10%.

  10. Allocation is secured

    When the deposit is received, tickets and accommodation are secured and the booking is confirmed, subject to availability at the time of receipt of your deposit payment.

  11. Build the rest of the programme

    Airport transfers, motorcoach transport, Munich sightseeing, Neuschwanstein, Zugspitze, Salzburg, faith-based programmes, and pre- or post-tours across Germany and Austria.

Why we ask for three dates

A request naming a single performance date cannot be filed with the Passion Play Office. This is not a formality we have added: allocations are matched against availability across the season, and a request with no flexibility either matches on the first attempt or fails outright.

Groups that offer three dates almost always secure both their date and their ticket category. Groups locked to one date frequently secure neither, and then have to be re-quoted weeks later against whatever remains. The three-date rule exists to keep your group in the first category of outcome.

What is binding and what is not

Sending a request commits you to nothing. It costs nothing, and it does not oblige you to travel. What it does is put your group in the queue against a specific date and category while both are still open.

Nothing becomes binding until a deposit invoice is issued and the deposit is received. Until that point an allocation is held, not sold. After that point the booking is subject to the payment and cancellation terms, and the allocation is genuinely yours.

Why early requests matter for a 2030 season

Tickets reach the travel trade before the general public, and packages combining a ticket with accommodation are released before play-only tickets. The result is that the best dates and categories are committed years ahead of the season, largely by operators who have worked previous cycles and know the pattern.

For 2030 this means the decisive period is well before 2030. An operator who waits until the year of the play is choosing from what is left rather than from what is available.

Working with us if you are new to Oberammergau

If your agency has not sold the Passion Play before, tell us. The event has conventions that do not exist elsewhere in group travel: allocation-led hotel assignment, a fixed decade cycle, a performance that consumes an entire day, and ticket categories that behave differently from ordinary theatre seating.

Request dates
