Reservations are made by zone, hotel category and room category. Specific properties are allocated by the Passion Play Office and cannot be guaranteed.

Where the beds are

Zone 1

Oberammergau

Hotels, guesthouses and pensions in the village where the Passion Play takes place.

  • Walking distance or a short transfer to the theatre
  • Immersion in the village on performance day
  • No 5-star hotels exist in Oberammergau
  • Very limited inventory — usually the first to sell out

Zone 2

Surrounding region

Hotels in the Bavarian towns and villages around Oberammergau.

  • Wider hotel selection, including 5-star properties
  • Better availability for larger groups
  • Round-trip transport to Oberammergau on performance day is included
  • Transfers leave from a designated local point, not from each hotel

Transport

How Zone 2 guests reach the theatre

Round-trip transport between the accommodation area and Oberammergau on performance day is included in the Zone 2 package price.

  • Transfers do not depart from the individual hotel.
  • Guests are assigned a designated local departure point in their town or village.
  • The hotel communicates the departure location and schedule on arrival.
  • Transport runs through a centralised regional system built for the volume of Passion Play visitors.

  • Single Room / Double Room for Single Use
  • Double Room / Twin Room
  • Triple Room / Four-Bed Room
  • Suite for 1 Person
  • Suite for 2–4 Persons

A Double Room or Twin Room may be configured with one large double bed (king or queen) or two separate single beds. Bedding configurations cannot be guaranteed. We pass rooming preferences to the assigned hotel, but the final configuration depends on hotel availability.

Groups

Hotel allocation for larger parties

Every effort is made to keep guests and groups together. However, because of the allocation system tied to the Passion Play, and depending on availability and room configurations within the selected category, accommodation may occasionally be split across two or more hotels, guesthouses or pensions. The final allocation is determined by the Passion Play organizers and lies outside our control.
